I love my photography to tell a story, on this occasion that of Stavroula and Stathis’s Greek wedding (Griechische Hochzeit) as well as the their son’s christening. It gave me great joy to photograph their special day held in Stuttgart, Germany. As Stavroula readied herself for the big moment in the family home, I caught the details of her preparations at this welcoming residence. From the moments and details to close ups of family and friends. Smiles, laughs, anticipation, excitement.
At Stuttgart’s Greek orthodox church (Kirche der Hll. Apostel Petrus und Paulus) I shot the arrival of the bride from two different angles, seizing upon the opportunity to capture the overwhelming emotion that runs between them.
The wedding ceremony was followed by the christening of their child, so I captured some snapshots of the main parts.
Later in the evening we went to the gardens of Stuttgart’s old palace for the next group of shots, centralise on Stavroula and Stathis as a now married couple. The garden looked spectacular providing the ideal backdrop for further photos of the newlyweds! I chose to focus on the romantic color of the flowers.
The whole celebration was traditional Greek and to add to my delight, there were over 200 guests to add to the plethora of photographic material already shot. All the laughter, all the emotions, all the love, all pictorially condensed through the eye of my lense. All seen, all chronicled.
