Tery & Billy in Mykonos

Lying in the Mediterranean in the heart of Aegean Sea, Mykonos is one of the smallest and sunniest of the Greek islands, enjoying more than 300 days of sunshine a year.

Traditional whitewashed houses of Chora welcome visitors with their colourful doors, and it is a pleasure to get lost walking along ancient streets which twist and turn, offering a fantastic view or an unforgettable cafe around nearly every corner. The white buildings are the perfect foil for the azure sky, and a wonderful backdrop for tumbling bougainvillea flowers in vivid pinks and purples.

Mykonos was the ideal place for Billy and Tery’s session. We started at Chora’s windmills, which are one of the island’s most recognised sights. Our timing was perfect and we were able to enjoy the backdrop as well as the view across Little Venice virtually to ourselves. It was breezy up there and the movement of the waves (and Tery’s hair!) added extra vibrancy to the images.

Religion is part of the fabric of Greek life and Chora is sprinkled with chapels and churches that are full of charm and character. After the windmills we moved to Agios Haralampos chapel and then to Panagia Paraportiani. This humble looking whitewashed cliff top church, topped with plain crosses and a simple bell, is one of the most photographed churches in Greece.
