Con and Elvina proved that true love transcends borders when they tied the knot in the historic suburb of Croydon in Adelaide in South Australia.
The city has a thriving Greek community, many of whom were present at the Holy Monastery of Saint Nectarios to witness their vows. This wedding was a blast from start to finish, due in no small part to the generous welcome we received not only from the couple but also from their families and friends.
Con dressed and prepared for the occasion at his home, where the accents were different, but the traditions and emotions were so familiar. Also familiar were the multiple plates of delicious food, showing that, to Greeks, any occasion is enhanced with food! While one team
filmed Con, another was at his waterfront apartment in the upmarket suburb of Glenelg where Elvina was getting ready with her bridesmaids. Elvina is Russian and was delighted that her mother and closest friends were able to make the journey to be with her on this special day.
After spending some time with the newlyweds and their wedding party in some beautiful parkland beside the River Torrens, we made our way into the city and the famous Adelaide Oval for the wedding reception, where the late afternoon painted the unique venue in a beautiful light. The events team here did an incredible job, and the enormous function room oozed style and sophistication.
The fun didn’t stop after the reception! While the newlyweds enjoyed their first day as a married couple, Con’s brother, George, took me on a tour of Adelaide in one of the brothers’ “toys” – a classic black Mustang. A day later, once they had recuperated from their big day, I met up again with Elvina and Con for a post-wedding session around Glenelg Marina and beach. They were so relaxed, knowing that there weren’t the pressure or time constraints as on a wedding day, and I think the images reflect this.
