Baptisms are always a cause for celebration and it was certainly a case of double the excitement when twins Emilia and Isabella were welcomed into the faith during an Italian Christening at St. Peter’s Italian Church in Clerkenwell. Adding to the “doubling”, the girls had both a Roman Catholic and a Greek Orthodox ceremony, reflecting their parents’ separate religions.

It was a glorious late summer Saturday but even if the skies had been cloudy it wouldn’t have mattered within St Peter’s magnificent interior. Built after a request from Saint Vincent Pallotti and inspired by the Basilica of San Crisogono in Rome, the church dates from 1863 and is the oldest Catholic Church used by London’s Italian community. The TARDIS like building often takes first-time visitors by surprise with its soaring ceiling and incredibly decorative paintings. From a photographer’s perspective it is a joy to work in due to the natural light and immense beauty, making Christening photography in London a pleasure. See more…

Christening Photography – Jasper Abraham Irvine, was an absolute delight to photograph on his Anglican Christening day at one of our favourite locations – the beautiful St Bride’s Church in the heart of London’s City.

Little Jasper was an incredibly sweet boy, who we met asleep on his arrival. Having to be woken, he was all smiles as soon as awake and realising all the special people in his life surrounding him. It was magical to photograph these moments and the relationships he had with both his parents and siblings. Also with all the others that had come for his special day, including his grandparents and godparents.

The slightly grey London day did not seem to dampen anyone’s mood, in fact it made the perfect back drop for the Christening photographs, making the colours everyone was wearing stand out brightly, with beautiful trees in the background. See more…

A baby’s christening or baptism is one of the most significant early moments in their life. Christening videography gives you a documentary record of every precious moment of this momentous day to cherish forever. In christenings not only are you celebrating their place in your family, the religious sacrament commemorates their acceptance into the church.

I was very happy to be the christening videographer for Leonidas’ baptism at St Nectarios church in Battersea London, where Father Christodoulos officiated. Leonidas was an angel throughout the service, happily being held by his Godparents as they committed to their role in his life while his parents watched proudly. Even being undressed and immersed in the font did not upset him – I suspect this little lion loves bath time!

The interior St Nektarios’ church was wonderfully lit by the sunshine which streamed through the windows and showcased the rich colours and gold accents of the paintings which adorn the walls. It was an intimate, loving gathering of family and friends who witnessed Leonidas’ special day, each of whom was given a traditional witness pin, or martyrika, to commemorate their participation.

The quality of light inside a church can make baptism videography difficult with a normal camera, but having a professional christening videographer with the right experience and equipment makes all the difference. Whether your christening is an intimate affair or a large gathering of family and friends, I will capture the essence of joy and love that surrounds you and your child. See more…

The setting for Alexandros’ Baptism Photography was St Sophia’s Cathedral in London. I am grateful to have had the privilege to have photographed several weddings and christenings here, yet am always struck anew by its peaceful atmosphere. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate its beauty, light, and perfect proportions.

Since its consecration in 1882 St Sophia’s Cathedral has been the beating heart of the Greek Orthodox community in London. While the domed roof suggests something special from outside, nothing can really prepare the first time visitor for the splendour within. Instead of paintings, stunning intricate mosaics decorate the floor and provide the traditional iconostasis, while the rich colours and gilding make worshippers feel as if they are in an enormous jewellery box. It is absolutely breathtaking and lends itself perfectly to christening Photography London.  See more…

Christening is one of the most major mysteries in the Orthodox Christian Church and it makes a great opportunity for the child’s family to gather and celebrate together the entrance of the child to the body of the church. For this reason, the value of beautiful, high-quality shots is great as these will be kept as a milestone of the child’s greatest moments for the years to come.

As a documentary Photographer with many years of experience in christening photography, I was delighted to be hired for the shooting of Sean Evangelos Toma’s baptism. The ceremony took place at the greek orthodox cathedral of the Holy Cross and Archangel Michael in Golders Green London – a mesmerising spacious cathedral with a distinct modern orthodox architecture and a pictorial atmosphere which is perfect for shooting special ceremonies like weddings and christenings.  The beautiful atmosphere was also enhanced by a colored theme that played among the warm earthy hues of brown, green, and yellow.

Sean Evangelos Tomas was a sweet baby boy with big, pearly and twinkling eyes that I absolutely loved zooming in. What made the whole ceremony extra interesting was the fact that the boy was baptised by three godmothers, all smiling joyously and effortlessly throughout the stages of the ceremony – something that made my job as a professional christening Photographer much more easier, See more…

Three years prior to this day I was grateful to have been there to capture Stella and Theodoro’s first child’s Christening and I was delighted to be a part of their second child’s Christening as well. The Christening of little Eleftheria took place at Saint Nicholaos (or St Nicholas, or St Nikolaos) , the Orthodox church of the Greek community in Luxembourg. See more…

We had the pleasure to shoot this wonderful Orthodox Greek Christening in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire. This beautiful family chose the Greek Orthodox Church of Twelve Apostles in Hatfield to baptize their lovable son Stefano. Below are some Photography examples of the images we took, as well as a video clip with the highlights of the celebration. We always enjoy shooting Christenings, as they have so much warmth and wonderful displays of emotion throughout, with small details that can be picked up so wonderfully through a camera. The setting was absolutely beautiful and a location we would recommend for fellow Greeks wanting a Baptism for their children. The Orthodox chapel of Twelve Apostles is one one of the most beautiful Greek churches in the country. Stefano was a wonderful model baby, who was so well behaved and displayed such gorgeous emotion. May his Baptism be just the start of a life filled with happiness.

Elsie’s Christening was a pleasure to photograph at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Divine Wisdom, known as Saint Sophia church in Bayswater which I believe is also one of the best churches in London and a world-class orthodox cathedral.

Elsie was a gorgeous little girl and we loved capturing the special moments of her day, with her lovely family. As always the Cathedral of St Sophia in Bayswater was full of spectacular detail and made a fantastic back drop inside and out for all shots. We particularly liked zoning in on Elsie’s expressions throughout the orthodox baptism ceremony, so sweet and unaware of what was about to happen. We also loved capturing the expressions of her parents interacting with her, the tiny details like her bracelet being held and little feet.

Being an experienced Christening Photographer I really loved capturing these moments of Aristolis Wo’s christening. There was an ambience of blue throughout the entire portraiture, which not only represent a ‘boy’ but also such wonderful qualities, like strength and stability.
Everything was beautifully and tastefully done, including the keepsakes and little clothing for Aristotelis Wo, all tied with blue ribbon, carrying an almost nautical theme. Lovely settings like the deep blue leather sofa, made for wonderful photos with all of the children together.
He was a very good boy to photograph and this personality can be shown through the imagery.

We were quite excited when Aspa phoned us to book the Photography of her daughter Christina’s Greek Orthodox Christening.

Every time we have the opportunity to photograph a Greek Christening, we begin with the family photos and prized portraits of baby and family. These have to be done before the ceremony gets underway. Post ceremony usually means the baby is tired and cranky with oily hair and wanting to rest which gives us little time for the quantity of shots that we’d like to have. We especially love capturing emotional Christening photos of baby with mother as well as godparents. Guest’s faces tend to bring out the best expressions at the moment the baby is bathed in the blessed water when the Photographer always have his finger ready on the trigger. Other subjects for great pictures are the close ups of decorations, baby portraits using the light from the candles, the incense burning and all the filigree details in the church.

Greek Orthodox Christenings are beautiful ceremonies with no shortage of captivating objects to be photographed. This makes such an event a challenge for a Photographer attempting to capture outstanding pictures that will be cherished for generations to come.
